You're Invited: Reboot of the Nonprofit Executive Roundtable
In-person | Collaborative | Timely
Spokes is relaunching our Executive Roundtable series with a quarterly, in-person format designed to foster meaningful discussion, peer support, and timely insights for local nonprofit leaders.
Our first session will focus on the urgent legislative and executive developments impacting the nonprofit sector—especially those that rely heavily on federal funding. These are challenging times, and now more than ever, nonprofit leaders need space to process change, share strategies, and prepare for what's ahead.
We’ll begin with a live viewing of the National Council of Nonprofits webinar: “Legislative & Executive Threats to Your Nonprofit – Live Q&A.” Following the webinar, we’ll host a facilitated discussion to explore how these developments affect our local organizations and how we can respond collaboratively.
To close, we’ll share a brief overview of The Fabric of SLO County: Understanding the Diversity and Contributions of Our Immigrant Community. This 2025 report by Diringer & Associates highlights the demographic, economic, and cultural importance of immigrant communities in San Luis Obispo County, as well as the challenges they face in areas like housing, healthcare, and legal support.
Executive directors are encouraged to bring their board president or chair to this special session.
Multiple facilitators will be in attendance to help guide thoughtful and productive conversation, including:
Marissa Mosunich – A seasoned operations professional and Organizational Development consultant with a passion for building strong, sustainable teams.
Debby Nicklas – Former Vice President of the French Hospital Medical Center Foundation and award-winning community leader with decades of nonprofit board and public service experience.
Michael Simkins, Ed.D. – Executive Director/CEO of Spokes, bringing extensive experience in education and nonprofit leadership, and active board member
Lisa Breen Strickland – Chief Principal of Strickland Strategies, bringing decades of experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, and executive coaching.
