Empowering nonprofits to achieve their missions.
Yours is a tax-exempt organization so you don't have to file an income tax return, right? If only it were so. Instead, you have the joy of filing the infamous Form 990, which provides the IRS with information about your nonprofit's income, expenditures, and all sorts of other trivial and not-so-trivial information. If your organization's annual gross receipts are normally $50,000 or less, no problem! You can file the super easy 990 "e-postcard." This work shop is NOT for you. If you're a CPA, it's not for you, either (though you are welcome to attend).
This work shop is for executive directors, chief finance officers, and especially members of the board of directors who, though typically they don't prepare the 990 for filing, DO have a responsibility to review it and attest to its accuracy. How do you know it's been completed correctly? When you review it, what should you be looking for? How do you evaluate how well the person preparing your 990 is doing? These are the kinds of things we'll cover in this workshop.
