Description

Financial reporting impacts all levels of a nonprofit organization.  And, the ability of the ED/CEO, Board members, staff and donors to accurately read and analyze these reports is critical to an organization’s management success.  And, yet, according to a study conducted by the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, financial knowledge among nonprofit leaders is lacking.

Why?  Well, financial reports can be confusing and difficult to read. But, Spokes has the solution!  Join us for this safe and friendly workshop designed to give you the basic financial education you need.  Whether you are responsible for generating the reports or reviewing and approving them, this workshop is for you!

Participants will*:

  • --Review important accounting terminology
  • --Explore the basic components of financial reports
  • --Learn how to evaluate their organization’s performance by analyzing Income Statements, Financial Statements and Balance Sheets.

*Participants must bring copies of their organization’s Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Budget and Cash-Flow Reports (or whichever documents they may have, current or historical) to practice reviewing and analyzing them.   Instructors will be able to provide individual counseling for specific questions about the reports.  Reports will not be shared publicly, unless volunteered by participant.
